Winter Caravan By the Sea

Winter season again, and we are foo on our caravan By The Sea having 5 stops on the itinerary and 12 days long. Round up was at the " Casa De Fruta " is high fives and how-de-d0s all around. All the usual suspects were in attendance along with shirt=tail members Tom and Ethelwyne Golden of the Oregon unit , and Jim and Vicky Gallagher that are still greenies in the unit.

Stop #1 Pismo Beach, Ca. finds us spotted right on the beach at the Pismo Coast Village R.V. Park . Nifty digs I must say. The Higgins made arrangements for lunch at the pier restaurant at Avalia Beach. Each table had a see through affair so you could look at the water and seals playing below. Clam chowder was a house specialty , and it was special . That I can attest to .

Next morning was our day to visit the Monarch Butterfly grove with a guided tour..Awesome. I had no idea those little critters could fly such distances. It gust goes to show ya that with the right kind of incentives , anything is possible.

Back at camp Tom Smithson cooked up a new version of lemon pie with the rind ground up in it .It was wonderful..

On Friday we were all out in the rain doing breakfast in a bag. It tuned out great.

Stop #2. Buellton , Ca. at the Flying Flags R.V. park. We got unhooked and went into the town of Solvang for some gooey bakery goods and a cup of java. Back at camp we were browsing through the goody bag give away for the R.V. Park and Wowzer here is a $50 giveaway from the local Casino. Well for some of us Christmas made an encore.

Bob Vasser guided us to his favorite restaurant in the are. The Hitching Post. What a treat that was . Great steaks.

Saturday morning lineup for Santa Barbara and the Ty Warner Sea Center , on Stearns Wharf. This was a wonderful tour, at the hands on facility. Then on for lunch . Santa Barbara is a real jewel.

Stop#3. New Poet Beach at the New Port Dunes R.V Park .. This is a 10 R.V. Park .. Has it own Lagoon . On our agenda was a boat right around Balboa Island amongst the 11,000 boats and homes of the very rich and famous.

Next was a visit to the Peterson Auto Collection in L.A. The auto display was cool , but cooler was the display of Auto Camps to Airstreams. My favorite.

Stop#4 Chula Vista R.V. Park. This park is south of San Diego , Ca. The weather was wonderful along with the park . We had a tour of the Olympic Training Center . This was very informative with lots of Walking. We were here for 2 days. Went into San Diego on the trolley for dinner at Little Italy . What a good time.
Our Last stop was Berrago Springs, Ca. This is a dessert oasis . Went to Fonts Points for a happy hour and looked a the vast view. Outstanding. Well need to close for now . More later.
